Very often we get asked why some of our machines won't take a certain bill. Below are the most common reasons this happens and some things you can try.
1. Defaced or Stained:
Bill acceptors work by comparing a trained image of a bill and security features to the bill being deposited into the machine. Markings, stamps, stains, etc. can cause the bill to read as fake and be rejected. All of our machines are programmed to accept bills in any orientation, so turning the bill another way may help.
2. Wet or Contaminated:
When bills are wet or have oily residue, the bills become more translucent and cause the sensors to detect the bill as fake. There is no quick fix for this one, it will just have to dry before it will work. Try to trade it out with a different bill.
3. Wrinkled:
If your bill is extremely wrinkled, it could cause the bill acceptor to reject it. There is an extremely easy fix. Just pull the bill tight between both hands and pull it back and forth across a flat edge of anything to smooth out the wrinkles.
4. Folded corners or edges:
If there are any folded corners on your bill, try unfolding them before depositing the bill into the machine.
